BEATRIX: A Study to Learn About a Group B Streptococcus Vaccine in Healthy Pregnant Women and Their Babies
BEATRIX (group B strEptococcus mATeRnal and Infant VaX study) The purpose of this study is to learn about the safety and how the group B streptococcus (GBS) vaccine works in pregnant women and their babies. This study is seeking healthy pregnant participants: * aged 49 or younger who can join. * between 24 and 36 weeks of gestation ("Gestational age" is a medical term used to describe how far along your pregnancy is) * had a fetal ultrasound examination performed with no major fetal abnormalities observed * documented negative for HIV, syphilis and Hepatitis B All participants in this study will receive only 1 shot in an arm. This could either be a group B streptococcus 6-valent polysaccharide conjugate vaccine (GBS6) or placebo. Placebo is an inactive substance used in the study for comparison purposes; in this study, the placebo injection will be saline (saltwater). The pregnant participants may take part in this study for a maximum of 14 months (6 months after delivery) , and their babies for about 12 months after they are born. The pregnant participants will need to visit the research site at least 3 to 4 times with some visits permitted to occur over the telephone. A subset of infants will be asked to take part in the study for up to 19 months. The subset will receive diphtheria toxoid-containing vaccine and/or pneumococcal vaccine following each country's standard immunization plan and have blood drawn 1 month after completion of the primary and/or toddler (booster) doses.
A Study to Determine the Efficacy and Safety of Finerenone and SGLT2i in Combination in Hospitalized Patients With Heart Failure (CONFIRMATION-HF)
Combination therapy of finerenone plus empagliflozin will be compared to usual care to determine the efficacy and safety of treatment in patients hospitalized with heart failure.
EASi-KIDNEY™ (The Studies of Heart & Kidney Protection With BI 690517 in Combination With Empagliflozin)
This study is open to adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of progression. People with and without type 2 diabetes can take part in this study. The study is open to people who take other medicines called angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB). People who already take empagliflozin or any other sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) can also join. The study is also open to people who currently do not take any of these treatments. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called BI 690517 helps people with chronic kidney disease when taken in combination with a study medicine called empagliflozin. Worsening of kidney function increases the risk for kidney failure, cardiovascular disease, and heart disease. After a run-in period, during which participants are confirmed to be receiving clinically appropriate renin-angiotensin system blockade and are established on empagliflozin, they are randomly assigned (by chance) to 1 of 2 groups. One group receives BI 690517 tablets, and the other group receives placebo tablets. Placebo tablets look like BI 690517 but do not contain any medicine. Participants take 1 study tablet once a day, in addition to empagliflozin, for the duration of the study. The doctors document when participants experience worsening of their kidney disease, go to hospital due to heart failure, or die of cardiovascular problems during the study. The time to these events is compared between the 2 treatment groups to see whether the treatment works. The study continues until the required number of events have occurred which is about 3 to 4 years. During this time, participants visit the study site about 4 times within the first 6 months. Then they visit the study site every 6 months. At the visits, doctors regularly check participants' health, take blood and urine samples, measure blood pressure and weight, check kidney function, and take note of any unwanted effects.
A Clinical Trial Investigating the Safety, Tolerability, and Therapeutic Effects of BNT113 in Combination With Pembrolizumab Versus Pembrolizumab Alone for Patients With a Form of Head and Neck Cancer Positive for Human Papilloma Virus 16 and Expressing the Protein PD-L1
An open-label, controlled, multi-site, interventional, 2-arm, Phase II/III trial of BNT113 in combination with pembrolizumab vs pembrolizumab monotherapy as first line treatment in patients with unresectable recurrent or metastatic HPV16+ HNSCC expressing programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) with combined positive score (CPS) ≥1. This trial has two parts. Part A, is an initial non-randomized Safety Run-In Phase to confirm the safety and tolerability at the selected dose range level of BNT113 in combination with pembrolizumab. Part B, is a randomized part to generate pivotal efficacy and safety data of BNT113 in combination with pembrolizumab versus pembrolizumab monotherapy in the first line setting in patients with unresectable recurrent or metastatic HPV16+ HNSCC expressing PD-L1 with CPS ≥1. Patients included in the Safety Run-In Phase of the trial (Part A) will not be randomized to Part B and will continue on-trial treatment (BNT113 plus pembrolizumab) within Part A. For Part B, an optional pre-screening phase is available for all patients where patients' tumor samples may be submitted for central HPV16 DNA and central PD-L1 expression testing prior to screening into the main trial. Patients will be treated with BNT113 in combination with pembrolizumab or with pembrolizumab monotherapy for approximately up to 24 months.
RFC1 Natural History Study
This international, multi-center, multi-modal and prospective observational study aims to determine the phenotypic spectrum and the natural progression of the RFC1 repeat expansion disease, and to seek and validate digital, imaging, and molecular biomarkers that aid in diagnosis and serve as outcome measures in future clinical trials of this novel, but frequent ataxia with late adult-onset.
Association Between GalectiN-3 and POSt-operative AtrIal Fibrillation After Coronary Artery BypaSs Graft
The goal of this observational study is to test the association between high levels of Galectin-3 and the occurrence of post-operative atrial fibrillation after isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The main question\[s\] it aims to answer are: * Is Galectin-3 an accurate biomarker to predict higher risk of developing post-operative atrial fibrillation? * Are high levels of Galectin-3 associated to other post-operative complications and major adverse cardiovascular events? Participants will be enrolled during pre-operative evaluation and a peripheral blood sample collection will be performed in the 24h before CABG. Participants will then be followed for a period of 12 months (daily during hospitalization and 3 appointments after hospital discharge) to determine whether patients with higher levels of Galectin-3 will have worse outcomes.
A 36-month Analysis of the Clinical Performance of Individualized CAD/CAM-produced Dental Implants: a Cohort Study
The goal of this prospective cohort study is to evaluate the clinical performance of a new generation of customized CAD/CAM pre-fabricated root-analog dental implants over a 36-month period. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Are these novel implants safe, effective, and clinically viable for 36 months? 2. Do these drilling-free implants result in better post-operative outcomes compared to traditional implant techniques? Twelve patients receiving these customized implants immediately after tooth extraction will undergo clinical and radiographic examinations at 12, 24, and 36 months after prosthesis installation. The study will assess peri-implant tissue health, post-operative comfort, bone preservation, tissue integration, and implant survival rates.
Addressing Unintentional Leakage When Using Nasal CPAP - Study B
Oral unintentional leak is a common side effect of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) treatment. Management of oral unintentional leakage has not been standardized and the effectiveness of potential approaches have not been studied in controlled studies. Higher levels of CPAP are associated with higher leak. In the present study, a sequential approach to control excessive unintentional leak will be tested. In study A, the reduction of therapeutic CPAP level will be tested. In study B, oronasal CPAP will be compared to nasal CPAP with a chinstrap.
A Study to Assess Efficacy and Safety of Pembrolizumab With or Without Sacituzumab Tirumotecan (MK- 2870) in Adult Participants With Resectable Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) Not Achieving Pathological Complete Response (pCR) (MK-2870-019)
This study will assess if adding sacituzumab tirumotecan with pembrolizumab after surgery is effective in treating NSCLC for participants not achieving pathological complete response. The primary hypothesis of this study is sacituzumab tirumotecan plus pembrolizumab is superior to pembrolizumab monotherapy with respect to disease free survival (DFS) as assessed by blinded independent central review (BICR).
