Scaling Up Point-of-Care Hepatitis C Testing and Treatment in Canada
The SCALE-POCT study is a national initiative designed to provide robust evidence for scaling up point-of-care hepatitis C testing for key populations. The study seeks to map current hepatitis C clinical processes, identify barriers and facilitators to implementation, and co-design practical tools and strategies in partnership with stakeholders. A major obstacle to hepatitis C elimination and increasing treatment uptake is the current multi-step diagnostic process, which leads to loss to follow-up and treatment delays, particularly among high-risk groups such as people who inject drugs. Point of-care hepatitis C antibody tests (results: 5-20 mins) and RNA tests (results: 60 mins), could enable single-visit diagnosis, reducing loss to follow-up. However, integrating these tests into key settings presents challenges. The overarching goal of this study is to generate evidence to inform the scale-up point-of-care hepatitis C testing and treatment in key settings in Canada. This study is observational in nature and does not involve the direct implementation of point-of-care hepatitis C testing. Instead, it aims to understand the contextual, procedural, and operational factors that would support its successful adoption and sustainability. By examining existing care models and engaging with key stakeholders, the study seeks to build a foundation for future implementation efforts. Specific objectives include: 1. Map current hepatitis C care processes and explore how point-of-care testing could fit into these models; 2. Identify barriers and facilitators to implementing point-of-care hepatitis C testing across settings and provinces; 3. Co-design tools and strategies (such as training guides, standard procedures) to support point-of-care testing; 4. Assess feasibility, acceptability, and costs of the co-designed tools and strategies.

The aim of this study is to demonstrate that cerebral blood flow and brain function do not resume after death declaration in organ donors who undergo normothermic regional perfusion to restore organ function following death determination by circulatory criteria, when appropriate safeguards are applied. To assess the absence of cerebral perfusion and function, investigators will use continuous and comprehensive multimodal neuromonitoring throughout the withdrawal of life-sustaining therapies, the dying process and the NRP procedure.
UCAN CAN-DU: Canada-Netherlands Personalized Medicine Network in Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatic Disease
Childhood arthritis is a chronic disabling disease. New medications called biologic therapies are now available to treat arthritis that target key biologic molecules that cause inflammation. Biologic therapies, while very effective in treating arthritis in children, may have serious side effects including infections and potentially cancers, and are very expensive and doctors don't know, which one to choose for which child. The investigators will develop tests that enable them to learn about the biology of each child's arthritis and be able to predict when and which biologic therapy to start and when to stop.
A Longitudinal Study Looking at the Prevalence, Risk Factors & Consequences of Persistent Post-surgical Pain in Children
The purpose of this study is to investigate the prevalence, risk factors and consequences of chronic post-surgical pain in children aged 0-16 years through a number of questionnaires completed at various timepoints, from before surgery up to 1 year post surgery.
A Study of GS-3242 in Combination With Lenacapavir Versus Biktarvy in Virologically Suppressed People With HIV-1
The study will have two parts: Part A and Part B. In Part A, the goal of the study is to compare the effectiveness of switching to the study drugs GS-3242 plus Lenacapavir (LEN) versus continuing Biktarvy (bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (B/F/TAF)), in virologically suppressed people with HIV-1 (PWH) in treatment Group 1, 2 and 3 at Week 35. In Part B the goal of the study is to compare the effectiveness of switching to the study drugs, GS-3242 and LEN versus continuing B/F/TAF in Groups 4 and 3 at Week 26. The primary objective of part A is to evaluate the efficacy of switching to intramuscular (IM) GS-3242 plus IM LEN versus continuing on B/F/TAF PWH who are virologically suppressed in treatment Groups 1, 2, and 3 at Week 35 and Part B is to evaluate the efficacy of switching to IM GS-3242 plus IM LEN versus continuing on B/F/TAF in PWH who are virologically suppressed in Treatment Groups 4 and 3 at Week 26.
The Dragon PLC Trial (DRAGON-PLC)
The goal of the DRAGON PLC clinical trial is to determine whether portal vein embolization (PVE) combined with hepatic vein embolization (HVE) improves resectability and overall survival in patients with initially unresectable primary liver cancer compared to standard PVE alone. This trial specifically focuses on patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. The main questions this trial aims to answer are whether combined PVE and HVE increases the proportion of patients who become resectable within 3 weeks and improves 5-year overall survival compared to PVE alone by enhancing liver hypertrophy. Participants will: * Undergo either standard PVE or combined PVE and HVE. * Have regular imaging to assess liver resectability. * Be monitored for survival outcomes up to 5 years after intervention.
A Study of JNJ-78934804 in Participants With Moderately to Severely Active Crohn's Disease
The purpose of this study is to assess how well JNJ-78934804 works (efficacy) and how safe it is (safety) as compared to guselkumab at Week 48 in participants with moderately to severely active Crohn's disease (a long-term, progressive \[worsens with time\] and life-threatening disease of the intestine).
Platinum and Taxane Chemo in Met Castration Resistant Prostate Cancer Patients With Alterations in DNA Damage Response Genes
The usual approach for most patients who are not in a study is treatment with docetaxel. This study is being done to answer the following question: Can the chance of prostate cancer growing or spreading be lowered by adding a drug to the usual approach? This study is being done to find out if this approach is better or worse than the usual approach for prostate cancer. The usual approach is defined as the care most people get for prostate cancer.
FORTIFI-HN01: A Study of Ficerafusp Alfa (BCA101) or Placebo in Combination With Pembrolizumab in First-Line PD-L1-pos, R or M HNSCC
Ficerafusp alfa is directed against two targets, Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and Transforming Growth Factor beta (TGF-β). This study intends to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ficerafusp alfa in combination with pembrolizumab versus placebo with pembrolizumab in 1L PD-L1-positive, recurrent or metastatic Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC).
Multidisciplinary Approach for High Risk Patients Leading to Early Diagnosis of Canadians in Heart Failure
The goal of this study is improve the screening of heart failure and identify patients early who are at risk of heart failure. The main question\[s\] it aims to answer are: • will an electronic health records (EHR) case finding algorithm for heart failure, followed by N-Terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) screening and artificial intelligence (AI) echocardiogram compared to usual care identify patients at risk for heart failure earlier than standard of care? Participants will be enrolled and randomized to either standard of care (SOC) or intervention arm: SOC arm: electronic health records will be reviewed over six months for assessments performed to identify heart failure. Intervention arm: blood sample for N-terminal prohormone of B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) at local laboratory . For elevated NT-proBNP results (\>125pg/ml) an artificial intelligence (AI) echocardiogram and 12 lead electrocardiogram (ECG) will be performed at study site (within 28 days of NT-proBNP result). EHR will be reviewed at six months
