Validation of Continuous Transcutaneous Carbon Dioxide Monitoring in VA-ECMO Patients
Carbon dioxide in patients on veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) is eliminated via respirator as well as via the oxygenator's membrane of the ECMO machine. Consequently, monitoring of end-tidal carbon dioxide tensions is limited, which can result in marked swings towards non-physiological values. Hyper- and hypocapnia, however, can have detrimental effects on organ perfusion in a great number of patients supported with VA-ECMO. Continuous, rapidly applicable monitoring of reliable carbon dioxide measures would therefore be extremely helpful to prevent harmful deviations from the norm. The investigators therefore try to assess the accuracy and the precision of continuously measured non-invasive transcutaneous carbon dioxide partial pressures when compared with tensions determined by blood gas analysis.
Zilebesiran in Patients With Hypertension Not Adequately Controlled and With Either Established Cardiovascular Disease or High Risk for Cardiovascular Disease
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether zilebesiran versus placebo reduces the risk of cardiovascular (CV) death, nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), nonfatal stroke, or heart failure (HF) events. This is an event-driven study that will continue until the targeted number of positively adjudicated primary endpoint clinical outcome events (COEs) have been reached.
The Dragon PLC Trial (DRAGON-PLC)
The goal of the DRAGON PLC clinical trial is to determine whether portal vein embolization (PVE) combined with hepatic vein embolization (HVE) improves resectability and overall survival in patients with initially unresectable primary liver cancer compared to standard PVE alone. This trial specifically focuses on patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. The main questions this trial aims to answer are whether combined PVE and HVE increases the proportion of patients who become resectable within 3 weeks and improves 5-year overall survival compared to PVE alone by enhancing liver hypertrophy. Participants will: * Undergo either standard PVE or combined PVE and HVE. * Have regular imaging to assess liver resectability. * Be monitored for survival outcomes up to 5 years after intervention.
Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation in Non-small-cell Lung Cancer Receiving Immunotherapy
The aim of this prospective study is to evaluate the effects of an outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation program on the quality of life, performance and tumor growth of metastatic lung cancer patients receiving ongoing immunotherapy. The main questions it aims to answer are: The primary objective of the study is to assess the effects of outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation (OPR) on exercise capacity measured by difference in the 6-minute walking test (6MWT) in patients with advanced stage lung cancer receiving immunotherapy measured by difference in the 6-minute walking test (6MWT). Secondary endpoints in this study include progression free survival (PFS) and the effect of OPR on long term exercise capacity measured by 6MWT (difference in 6MWT after week 15 and 24). Researchers will compare two groups of patients: one group of patients receives 6 weeks of outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation (intervention group), while the other patient group serves as control since this is standard of care to evaluate the effects of outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation.
YOUCA App for Parents of Children With Mental Health Issues: A Pilot Study of Usability and Efficacy
Parents play an important role in supporting their children's mental health but often feel unsure how to respond to emotional or mental health difficulties. To address this need, the PsyGes project developed the Youngsters Upbringing Mental Health Information and Counselling App (YOUCA), a smartphone app that provides parents with information, practical guidance, daily tips, communication strategies, a mental health glossary, and a directory of support services. This study aims to evaluate the usability and potential effectiveness of YOUCA in improving parenting skills and parental self-efficacy (confidence in supporting a child). In this mixed-methods randomized waitlist-controlled pilot study, approximately 25 parents of children with mental health difficulties will participate. Participants will use the app over a four-week period and complete questionnaires before and after use. App usability and satisfaction will also be assessed. Interviews with parents and a focus group with psychosocial experts will provide additional feedback to support further app development and future larger-scale evaluation.
A Study of Vedolizumab With and Without Upadacitinib in Adults With Crohn's Disease
The main aim of this study is to learn whether vedolizumab and upadacitinib given together (also called dual targeted therapy or DTT) reduces bowel inflammation and ulcers in the bowel compared to vedolizumab only (also called monotherapy) in adults with moderately or severely active Crohn's Disease (CD) after 12 weeks of treatment. Other aims are to learn how safe and effective DTT is compared to monotherapy for these participants. All participants will receive DTT (either vedolizumab and upadacitinib or vedolizumab and placebo) for 12 weeks. Participants responding to the treatment will then receive vedolizumab only (monotherapy) for an additional 40 weeks. During the study, participants will visit their study clinic 15 times.
A Clinical Study of MK-3120 in People With Bladder Cancer (MK-3120-003)
Researchers are looking for new ways to treat high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (HR NMIBC). NMIBC is cancer in the tissue that lines the inside of the bladder and has not spread to the bladder muscle or outside of the bladder. In standard treatment for HR NMIBC, doctors first remove the tumor with a procedure called transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT). Researchers want to learn if using MK-3120, the study medicine, can treat HR NMIBC after TURBT. The goal of this study is to learn about the safety of MK-3120 and if people tolerate it.
FORTIFI-HN01: A Study of Ficerafusp Alfa (BCA101) or Placebo in Combination With Pembrolizumab in First-Line PD-L1-pos, R or M HNSCC
Ficerafusp alfa is directed against two targets, Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and Transforming Growth Factor beta (TGF-β). This study intends to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ficerafusp alfa in combination with pembrolizumab versus placebo with pembrolizumab in 1L PD-L1-positive, recurrent or metastatic Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC).
